About Me

I have been in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for over twenty years. During this time I have had the opportunity to lead groups in hospitals, work with corporations and help many individuals, couples and families deal with challenges and experience growth and recovery. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC III),Clinical Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPTS).

My teaching as a faculty member of the Colorado School of Family Therapy has allowed me opportunity to teach post graduate courses for a number of years.I am a past president of the Colorado Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) and served as president from 2002 to 2004. I served as president elect for two years prior to becoming president.

In 2006, I received the Therapist of the Year Award from CAMFT. In 2006 I was recipient of a National Award from the American Association for Mariage and Family Therapy Association (AAMFT). In 2006, I was appointed by Gov. Owens to serve on the Colorado State Board of Marriage and Family Therapist Examiners. I was reappointed by Gov. Ritter to serve on the Colorado State Board of Marriage and Family Therapist Examiners for another three years. In 2012, The Purpose Prize named me as a 2012 Fellow. In 2013, I received The Founders Award from Second Wind Fund, Inc. I am Co-Founder of the Second Wind Fund and served as President of the SWF Board for three terms. I have serve on the board. Second Wind Fund provides hope, help and healing. The Mission of Second Wind Fund: To decrease the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment.

I have a beautiful office in Lakewood, Colorado. The office is comfortable and convenient for my clients. It is near public transportation, provides plenty of parking and is wheel chair accessible. A scheduler is available to make appointments and take phone messages. The offices are HIPAA compliant.

I am a systemic, interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education

I received a BA in Psychology/Bible, a Masters in Counseling/Psychology, a Masters in Theology, a PhD in Theology/Counseling.
I am a credentialed teacher (K-12) in Elementary Education and have received my certification as a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. I am a certified
AAMFT Clinical Supervisor.
